Family Things to Do in KL and PJ (Including Rain)

If you have kids in Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya this month, start at Pavilion Damansara Heights, not Bukit Bintang. Harry Potter: 25 Years of Magic is a mall exhibition until 20 September 2026, 10am–10pm — Hogwarts Express-style set, not a film screening.

Indoor first (rain plan)

Arena metal and hard techno are not family nights. Skip Avenged Sevenfold and Sara Landry with small children.

Outdoor and free-ish

Keretapi Sarong on 13 September can work with older kids who can stand on a KTM coach. You buy train tickets. KLCC Park is the default hour after a mall.

Pasar malam after 5pm is a family habit if you pick a neighbourhood loop, not Jalan Alor on an empty stomach at 11pm.

Cuti sekolah overlap

School holidays need indoor backup. Pavilion DH until 20 Sep covers that. After it ends, use events in Kuala Lumpur and this guide’s rain table — do not assume the next mall takeover is free.

Lea Salonga at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (24–27 Sep) is not a kids’ Disney screening. The MPO page bars children under eight.

Who it is for

• Toddlers: mall concourse + park, stroller-friendly MRT
• Primary school: Harry Potter photo stops, Sunway expo if they like food stalls
• Teens: ANISAMA at Zepp KL (12 Sep) if they want anisong — check age rules on the promoter page
• Wheelchair: malls and DFP have access; KTM sarong day does not

Getting there with kids

Pavilion DH: Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT, not Bukit Bintang. Sunway: BRT. KLCC: LRT/MRT. Unifi Arena / Zepp: LRT Bukit Jalil — fine for a teen concert, miserable with a stroller after 10pm.
